Google is enhancing its AI Mode with several new features designed to provide more comprehensive and interactive search experiences. A key addition is the 'Canvas' feature, a dynamic side panel that allows users to build plans, organise information, and refine project outlines across multiple search sessions. Users can upload files such as PDFs and images to AI Mode, enabling them to ask detailed questions and cross-reference the content with relevant information from the web.
'Search Live' is also being introduced, integrating Project Astra's technology into AI Mode. This feature, accessible through Google Lens, allows users to point their camera at objects and receive real-time, AI-powered explanations and suggestions. Desktop users can now utilise Lens in Chrome to query displayed content, receiving AI-generated summaries and the option to 'Dive deeper'.
These updates aim to make AI Mode a more versatile tool for learning, planning, and exploring information, with a focus on providing users with immediate, context-sensitive assistance. The new features are rolling out to users in the US enrolled in the AI Mode Labs experiment.
