What happened
Accenture acquired a majority stake in Dragos, alongside full ownership of runZero and NetRise, to deliver end-to-end operational technology (OT) cybersecurity for critical infrastructure. Dragos’ OT threat detection platform will integrate runZero’s comprehensive exposure assessment and NetRise’s software supply chain visibility, forming a unified solution. These acquisitions, estimated to generate $208 million in annual recurring revenue as of June 2026, representing 53% year-over-year growth, bolster Accenture’s $10 billion cybersecurity business, per CEO Julie Sweet. Dragos will operate independently under CEO Robert M. Lee, with runZero and NetRise executives joining Dragos leadership.
Why it matters
Critical infrastructure operators gain a unified platform for visibility, threat detection, and response across industrial control systems and connected devices. This acquisition expands Accenture’s market position from OT cybersecurity services into the broader $27 billion OT software market, projected to reach nearly $59 billion by 2031. It addresses a critical gap where cybersecurity budgets often focus on IT, leaving operational technology environments exposed to escalating AI-driven cyber threats and geopolitical risks. This follows the European Central Bank addressing AI cyber threats with banks, underscoring the growing urgency for robust xOT defence.
