Cisco has introduced Unified Edge, an all-in-one server rack designed to bring AI capabilities to retail, healthcare, and manufacturing facilities. This system integrates chips, storage, networking, and security software into a single, easily deployable unit. Unified Edge aims to simplify AI implementation in environments lacking dedicated IT staff, offering plug-and-play functionality and remote management.
The Unified Edge platform supports a modular 19-inch chassis with CPUs and GPUs, up to 120TB of storage, and integrated 25-gigabit networking. It includes embedded security features and supports both wall-mounted and rack-mounted configurations. While using Cisco products for networking, security, and monitoring, it allows integration of processors from vendors like Nvidia and Intel.
Cisco's solution addresses the growing need for edge AI deployments, enabling real-time data analysis and faster response times without relying on centralised cloud infrastructure. The company aims to position itself as a key infrastructure provider for the AI era, supporting real-time inferencing and distributed automation at scale.
