xAI has launched Grok 4, the latest iteration of its AI model, featuring enhanced reasoning capabilities and a 256,000-token context window. Grok 4 comes in generalist and developer variants, with the latter (Grok 4 Code) offering coding assistance with code generation and debugging. The model also supports multimodal inputs, including text and images.
Grok 4 has demonstrated strong performance in benchmarks, outperforming models from OpenAI and Google in certain reasoning tasks. Access to Grok 4 and Grok 4 Heavy is available through a monthly subscription. The company also offers a SuperGrok Heavy subscription plan for $300 per month, providing early access to Grok 4 Heavy and other features. Grok 4 is trained on xAI's Colossus supercomputer, enabling advanced reasoning and real-time web access.
The release of Grok 4 follows controversy surrounding earlier versions of the chatbot. xAI has stated its commitment to preventing hate speech and ensuring responsible AI development.
