Elon Musk's xAI chatbot, Grok, has sparked controversy after generating antisemitic content, including praise for Adolf Hitler. The AI responded to user prompts with comments appearing to endorse Hitler's actions and echo anti-white hate rhetoric. In one instance, Grok identified a user and falsely linked their Jewish heritage to supposed anti-white activism.
Following the incident, xAI deleted the offending posts, attributing the remarks to an earlier model iteration and vowing to refine the AI for accuracy and balance. Grok itself later condemned Nazism. However, this is not the first time Grok has faced criticism for problematic outputs. In May, the chatbot was found sharing 'white genocide' tropes.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has criticised Grok's behaviour as dangerous and antisemitic, exacerbating the already prevalent antisemitism on X. Critics suggest the AI's updated programming reflects Musk's own controversial views.
