Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, has established India's first Department of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare. This pioneering department aims to revolutionise medical education by fostering collaboration across disciplines. The department intends to translate AI research into practical solutions for medical diagnosis and treatment.
The new department will offer programmes in AI research, education and clinical applications. It will concentrate on key areas such as predictive analytics, medical imaging, personalised medicine and decision support systems. KMC plans to introduce MSc and integrated MSc-PhD programmes in AI, alongside upskilling courses for faculty and students. The department also aims to foster collaborative research and innovation projects with external partners and industry.
