Indian students secured three gold medals at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2025, held in Beijing. The competition included challenges in machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and AI-integrated robotics. The event hosted 310 students forming 80 teams from 63 countries, marking it as the largest AI competition for high schoolers.

Arjun Tyagi from Delhi, Roumak Das from Malda, and Soham Sen from Kolkata were the gold medallists. Rayan Banerjee and Samik Goyal won silver medals, while Himaneesh Sompalle secured a bronze. India achieved third position in the medal rankings and sixth place based on average task scores. The tasks involved estimating the number of chickens in an image and developing clue cards for AI guessers.

Participating students were selected through the India AI Olympiad (INAIO), a national programme involving testing, training, and a residential camp at IIIT Hyderabad. The IOAI aims to promote AI education and leadership among high school students globally. The competition includes both scientific and practical rounds, testing knowledge of AI concepts and problem-solving skills.
