Pinterest Limits AI Content

Pinterest Limits AI Content

16 October 2025

Pinterest is introducing user-controlled settings to reduce the amount of AI-generated content displayed. Users can now adjust their feeds to show less AI content, particularly in categories prone to AI modification, such as beauty, art, fashion, and home decor. The new 'GenAI interests' element, found in recommendation settings, allows users to specify categories where they prefer fewer AI-generated pins.

While Pinterest acknowledges that AI now constitutes a significant portion of online content, they aim to strike a balance between AI and human creativity. The platform is also enhancing its AI content labels to improve transparency. These settings are currently available on desktop and Android, with iOS implementation rolling out gradually.

Pinterest emphasises that these controls will reduce, but not eliminate, AI content, as some users appreciate AI-generated material. The company is actively developing systems to identify AI images, though challenges remain in accurately detecting all AI content.

AI generated content may differ from the original.
