What happened
Music streaming service Deezer announced that AI-generated tracks now constitute over 50% of its daily uploads, with June 2026 representing a monthly average of 90,000 tracks per day. This marks a significant increase from January 2025, when AI uploads represented 10% of daily content at 10,000 tracks, growing to 75,000 tracks (44%) by April 2026. Deezer will now remove AI-generated tracks that have not been streamed in six months or are linked to fraudulent streaming activity, per CEO Alexis Lanternier, who stated this action protects artist rights and prioritises music fans value. The company's proprietary detection technology, capable of identifying content from models like Suno and Udio, has been available for licensing to other platforms.
