What happened
Microsoft unveiled Copilot Cowork, integrating Anthropic's work automation service to enable Copilot to execute tasks and workflows across Microsoft 365 applications like Outlook, Teams, and Excel. This moves Copilot beyond conversational assistance, allowing users to describe desired outcomes for the AI to plan and perform actions in the background with user checkpoints. Cowork operates within Microsoft 365 security and governance boundaries, running in a sandboxed cloud environment. It is currently in Research Preview with limited customers, with broader availability planned for the Frontier programme in late March 2026.
