Microsoft is expanding its AI capabilities within Copilot by integrating Anthropic's AI models. This move provides users with a broader range of AI options beyond OpenAI. Microsoft 365 Copilot users can now utilise Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 models. These models are also available in Copilot Studio and Researcher.
The integration allows businesses to select the most suitable model for their specific workflows. Microsoft's Researcher agent can leverage Claude Opus 4.1 for complex tasks, processing data from various sources to deliver tailored insights. Users can easily switch between OpenAI and Anthropic models. This strategic diversification aims to enhance user experience and operational efficiency by leveraging industry-leading AI capabilities.
Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, highlighted that this multi-model approach brings the best AI from across the industry to Copilot, tailored for every business. The integration signifies Microsoft's commitment to providing versatile AI solutions and reducing reliance on a single vendor.
