Microsoft 365 Copilot uses AI-powered chat connected to work and web data and can be accessed across Microsoft 365 applications. Context IQ is a set of AI capabilities from Microsoft that allows users to search for, select, and insert relevant enterprise or personal data directly into their prompts or conversations.

The integration of AI offers enhanced search capabilities across Microsoft 365, on-premises data, and other business applications. Users can find and attach data sources to Copilot prompts, ensuring more accurate and contextually relevant AI-driven responses. This includes searching across various data sources such as people, files, meetings, and emails, with options to upload files from local drives or cloud services like SharePoint and OneDrive. Copilot has real-time access to content and context in Microsoft Graph and Dataverse.

Microsoft 365 productivity apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Loop work with Copilot to support users in the context of their work. Copilot is transitioning to OpenAI's GPT-5 model to generate responses with increased complexity, accuracy, and overall performance.
