WordPress has introduced Telex, an experimental AI tool designed to simplify web content creation. Unveiled at WordCamp US 2025 by CEO Matt Mullenweg, Telex allows users to generate website components using written prompts. The tool focuses on creating Gutenberg blocks, the building units of a WordPress site, such as text sections, images, or layout columns.
Users enter a prompt, and Telex generates a downloadable .zip file that can be uploaded as a plugin to a WordPress site or WordPress Playground. While initial user feedback suggests that Telex requires further refinement, Mullenweg expressed confidence in the technology's potential. Telex is one of the first public examples of WordPress's exploration of AI to improve its tools and services.
Telex is currently available at telex.automattic.ai and is marked as experimental. The tool aims to democratise web development by making it more accessible and less reliant on coding skills.
