Samsung's shares have reached a yearly high following reports that its 12-layer HBM3E (High Bandwidth Memory) chips have passed Nvidia's quality testing. This marks a significant milestone, positioning Samsung as the third supplier of HBM3E to Nvidia, alongside SK Hynix and Micron.
Having secured the agreement, Samsung is set to initially ship 10,000 units to Nvidia. While the initial supply volume is modest, it signifies Samsung's re-entry into Nvidia's supply chain and its potential to compete in the HBM market. Industry analysts suggest this achievement demonstrates Samsung's technological capabilities and could lead to increased competitiveness in the development of next-generation HBM4 chips. The company is also aiming for its HBM4 to reach 11Gbps, exceeding Nvidia's requested 10Gbps, by using 1c DRAM and 4nm foundry for logic dies.
