By decentralising AI development, sensitive data remains protected within local servers, bank branches, and even individual machines. This also allows India to maintain control over its data and AI infrastructure, reducing reliance on foreign entities. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) further supports this by mandating local storage of AI models, enhancing cybersecurity and data privacy.
This move aligns with India's growing focus on data sovereignty and aims to counter the dominance of foreign AI companies. By fostering a local AI ecosystem, India can ensure its data is processed and controlled within its borders, promoting economic prosperity and national security.
