OpenAI is offering ChatGPT to US federal agencies for $1 annually. The General Services Administration (GSA) has approved the rollout, enabling agencies to integrate ChatGPT Enterprise into their operations. This version includes enhanced security and privacy features. The goal is to modernise how the government procures goods and services, aligning with efforts to promote AI adoption across federal entities.

ChatGPT Enterprise offers capabilities such as conversational AI, research assistance, and task automation. It can summarise documents, assist with brainstorming, and streamline processes. Government agencies can deploy ChatGPT Gov in their own Microsoft Azure commercial cloud or Azure Government cloud. Self-hosting ChatGPT Gov enables agencies to more easily manage their own security, privacy, and compliance requirements, such as stringent cybersecurity frameworks.

Over 90,000 users across more than 3,500 US federal, state, and local government agencies have already used ChatGPT to support their day-to-day work. Use cases include improving access to internal resources, basic coding, and supporting AI education efforts. This initiative aims to boost efficiency, productivity, and maintain US leadership in AI technology.
