Two Chinese nationals have been arrested in the US for allegedly exporting millions of dollars worth of Nvidia's advanced AI chips to China, violating US export restrictions. The individuals, operating through a company called ALX Solutions Inc, are accused of shipping the sensitive technology, including GPUs, without the required licenses.
From October 2022 to July 2025, ALX Solutions Inc. reportedly made over 20 shipments via Singapore and Malaysia to conceal the final destination as China. This occurred after the Commerce Department began requiring licenses for advanced microchips.
The charges include violating the Export Control Reform Act, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. One of the defendants was released on bond, while the other has a detention hearing scheduled.
