President Trump is set to reveal a $70 billion investment in AI and energy initiatives, signalling a major push to accelerate technological advancement. The announcement will occur at the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, hosted by Senator David McCormick. The investment will come from various companies and will be directed towards new data centres, expanded power generation, grid infrastructure upgrades, AI training programmes, and apprenticeships.
Blackstone's Jon Gray is expected to announce a $25 billion project focused on energy and data centre development, including a joint venture to boost US power generation capacity. This project aims to create 6,000 construction jobs annually and 3,000 permanent roles. The summit will gather approximately 60 executives from the AI and energy sectors, including notable figures such as Larry Fink, Alex Karp, Dario Amodei, Darren Woods, and Mike Wirth.
This initiative reflects Trump's commitment to positioning the US as a leader in artificial intelligence by encouraging private sector investment and easing regulatory barriers. Since the beginning of his second term, Trump has prioritised AI development and energy capacity by encouraging private-sector investment, easing regulatory barriers, and accelerating project approvals.
