Palantir Technologies is collaborating with The Nuclear Company to develop an AI-driven software system, the Nuclear Operating System (NOS), designed to streamline nuclear reactor construction. This system aims to transform nuclear plant construction into a data-driven process, enhancing speed and reducing costs. The NOS will provide real-time guidance to construction teams, track supply chains, monitor progress using digital twin technology, and streamline regulatory compliance.
The Nuclear Company will invest approximately $100 million over five years in Palantir for the platform's development. This partnership aligns with growing interest in nuclear energy as a cleaner and more reliable alternative to other energy sources. The collaboration also follows executive orders aimed at boosting nuclear energy production amid rising demand from data centres and AI, with the goal of accelerating new reactor and power plant licenses.
Palantir's NOS will integrate previously disconnected data systems across construction, supply chain, workforce, engineering, and safety domains. The software is built on Palantir's Foundry platform. The partnership reflects the increasing importance of nuclear energy for both energy security and national security.
