Abu Dhabi's AI giant, G42, has launched a European division, G42 Europe & UK, headquartered in London. This move signifies the UAE's increasing investment in the continent's AI infrastructure. G42's European expansion includes establishing data centres and compute clusters in France and Italy. Core42, a G42 subsidiary, has also announced a €1 billion partnership with iGenius to develop the Colosseum supercomputer, powered by NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, and is building an AMD-powered AI facility in Grenoble, France, in partnership with DataOne. G42 is also supporting the development of Europe's largest AI campus in Paris, a 1.4-gigawatt facility backed by Abu Dhabi investment company MGX, French national investment bank Bpifrance, and AI company Mistral AI, with construction beginning in 2026.
G42 Europe & UK will deliver AI solutions to the private sector and partner with governments to build AI infrastructure. The London hub will collaborate with national and regional bodies to advance data sovereignty initiatives and support AI infrastructure rollout, addressing European requirements for local data processing and regulatory compliance. G42's European operations aim to offer scalable, secure AI services while maintaining regulatory understanding of European frameworks, positioning the UAE company as an alternative to traditional US and Chinese AI infrastructure providers. The parent company operates through a portfolio including cloud provider Khazna, infrastructure specialist Core42, connectivity firm CPX, analytics company Presight, and AI research entity Inception, providing comprehensive technology capabilities for European market entry.
The launch of G42's European headquarters follows major infrastructure commitments across the continent. The new entity will be co-chaired by Omar Mir and Marty Edelman, combining over 20 years of global technology experience with regulatory expertise. G42's European expansion is a significant milestone, providing direct access to European regulatory frameworks and business relationships while offering European organisations an alternative to US and Chinese AI providers for sovereign computing requirements.
