NVIDIA and Qualcomm Ventures are joining forces with US and Indian venture capitalists to bolster India's deep-tech startup ecosystem. Qualcomm Ventures, along with six Indian venture firms, is adding over $850 million to the India Deep Tech Alliance, which was initially launched in September with a $1 billion commitment. The alliance aims to support companies in sectors like space, semiconductors, AI, and robotics.
NVIDIA will act as a founding member and strategic advisor, offering technical guidance, training, and policy input to aid Indian deep-tech startups in adopting AI and computing tools. This initiative addresses the underfunding of research-driven startups, which often face challenges in securing venture capital due to lengthy development cycles and uncertain profitability.
Deep-tech startup funding in India saw a 78% surge to $1.6 billion last year, accounting for approximately one-fifth of the total $7.4 billion raised overall. The Indian government has also launched a $12 billion initiative to stimulate research and development. This collective effort aims to foster core technologies and secure economic and strategic independence for India.
