What happened
Amazon's head of devices and services, Panos Panay, confirmed the company's strategic shift towards proprietary end-to-end silicon, including AZ3 and AZ3 Pro chips, for consumer hardware. These chips, integrated into devices like Echo Show 8, Echo Show 11, and Fire TV, execute AI workloads directly on-device. This approach aims to enhance response times and bolster security by minimising cloud processing for Alexa Plus capabilities. Panay also indicated a future "roadmap of on-the-go devices," following Amazon's 2025 acquisition of wearables firm Bee.
