Nvidia has reassured its clientele that the recent $100 billion investment and partnership with OpenAI will not compromise its commitment to other customers. The strategic alliance aims to expand AI infrastructure, with Nvidia supplying specialised GPUs and AI chips to power OpenAI's large AI models. This includes support for AI training infrastructure, software optimisation and data centre maintenance.
Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, has stated that this partnership will build an AI infrastructure to enable AI to go from labs into the world. OpenAI will deploy at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems, including the Nvidia Vera Rubin platform. Nvidia intends to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI as each gigawatt is deployed. This deal ensures Nvidia's processors provide the computing power within OpenAI's expanding data centre portfolio.
The scale of Nvidia's investment places the deal among the largest investments ever made to support another firm's data centre build-out. This partnership emphasises the growing demand for AI and Nvidia's critical role in providing the necessary hardware and software. Nvidia will co-optimise hardware and software roadmaps with partners like OpenAI, Microsoft and Oracle.
