Nvidia plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI to support the development of new AI infrastructure. This investment aims to facilitate the construction of data centres and provide the necessary resources for advancing artificial intelligence. OpenAI intends to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of AI datacentres, leveraging Nvidia's Vera Rubin GPUs. Nvidia will invest progressively as each gigawatt is deployed, valuing each gigawatt at $10 billion.
OpenAI will serve as the first public reference for Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform. The initial phase of deployment is scheduled for the second half of 2026. This partnership enhances the existing collaboration between OpenAI and Nvidia, which includes Microsoft, Oracle, SoftBank, and Stargate partners. The collaboration aims to build advanced AI infrastructure.
With over 700 million weekly active users, OpenAI seeks to advance its mission of creating artificial general intelligence that benefits humanity. Nvidia and OpenAI plan to finalise the details of this strategic partnership in the coming weeks.
