Google is integrating AI into its Android gaming platform with an AI assistant that provides real-time coaching. This initiative includes competitive leagues powered by AI agents, designed to enhance user engagement. The AI gaming agents analyse player behaviour and suggest strategies. Google's Gemini-powered Sidekick offers personalised tips and in-game guidance.
These AI agents can act as virtual coaches and even automate gameplay elements. The Gemini integration allows players to ask questions and receive real-time assistance without pausing the game. Google is also introducing Play Games Leagues, which organise players into ranked divisions based on skill, with AI facilitating matchmaking and simulating matches.
Google's Play Games Sidekick uses Gemini Live's screen sharing to understand the game context and provide AI-powered support. The first Play Games Leagues will commence on October 10, offering gamers a chance to compete in organised events. Google will allow users to trial Play Games Sidekick with Gemini Live in select games over the coming months.
