A recent study analysing 70,000 job interviews indicates that AI recruiters are outperforming their human counterparts in several key areas. The research, which spanned 48 job roles across healthcare, IT and industrial sectors, compared interviews led by human recruiters with those conducted by an AI recruiter named Anna AI. The study revealed that candidates interviewed by Anna AI received 12% more job offers and were 18% more likely to start the job.
Furthermore, the study found that AI-led interviews resulted in a 17% higher retention rate after one month of employment. Anna AI also demonstrated the ability to gather more job-relevant information, covering a median of nine topics per interview compared to five for human recruiters. Interestingly, when given a choice, 78% of applicants preferred to be interviewed by the AI. The study also noted a reduction in reported gender discrimination in AI-led interviews.
Despite the positive outcomes, the study highlighted challenges, including technical difficulties in some AI-led interviews. However, the overall findings suggest that AI can significantly improve hiring efficiency and early retention, providing a valuable tool for companies in high-volume recruitment scenarios.
