Nvidia anticipates resuming sales of its H20 AI accelerator chip to China after receiving assurances from the US government that licenses will be granted. The H20 is a data centre GPU tailored for the Chinese market. Nvidia also plans to release a new, fully compliant RTX PRO GPU ideal for digital twin AI in smart factories and logistics.
The H20 chip was designed to comply with previous trade restrictions. The US government previously blocked Nvidia from selling the H20 chip in China. CEO Jensen Huang has been vocal about his opposition to Washington's chip restrictions.
Resuming H20 sales is viewed positively for Nvidia, the AI semiconductor supply chain, and Chinese tech platforms building AI capabilities. This development is also considered beneficial for US-China relations.
