What happened
Roborock introduced new robot vacuum models, the Saros Z70 and Saros 10R, integrating AI-driven object manipulation and enhanced obstacle avoidance. The Saros Z70 features a five-axis mechanical arm for picking up items such as socks and tissues, alongside AI mapping, smart obstacle avoidance, and voice assistant integration. The Saros 10R employs LiDAR sensors and a camera for obstacle avoidance and adjusts wheel height for threshold climbing. All models offer app-based customisable cleaning, including real-time routes and no-go zones, with the Saros 10 adding automatic mop removal and rapid charging.
Why it matters
The integration of robotic arms for object manipulation and AI-powered recognition for obstacle avoidance in Roborock's new models reduces the implicit control over the pre-cleaning state of operational environments. This increases exposure to unintended movement or interaction with items previously considered outside robot vacuum capabilities. Facilities management and operational staff face higher due diligence requirements for securing sensitive items or ensuring clear pathways before deployment, impacting routine preparation protocols.
