Microsoft has introduced Mico, an animated avatar for its Copilot AI assistant, designed to offer a more personable and engaging user experience. Mico, reminiscent of the classic Clippy, is an expressive, customisable character intended to make interactions with the AI feel more natural. The avatar responds visually, with colour changes and animations, in addition to voice replies.
Microsoft's update to Copilot includes collaborative features, allowing up to 32 users to participate in group chat sessions. Copilot can now access multiple productivity apps such as Gmail, Google Drive, and OneDrive, and is tailored for health and education topics, providing credible information and voice-powered tutoring. Microsoft aims to integrate AI into Windows 11, enabling AI features via voice command. The new features are initially rolling out in the U.S., with plans for expansion to the UK, Canada and other markets.
