Google Fi Gets AI

Google Fi is integrating AI to enhance the user experience, most notably with AI-enhanced audio for calls. This feature reduces background noise and improves voice clarity, even when calling landlines or older devices. The AI intelligently filters out distractions like construction, traffic, and wind, ensuring natural-sounding conversations. Users can disable the feature within the Google Fi app if desired.

Additionally, Google Fi is expanding RCS (Rich Communication Services) to its web interface, enabling high-resolution photo and video sharing, and improved group controls on desktop. For Pixel phone users, the Wi-Fi Auto Connect+ feature is expanding to millions of new locations, including major airports, automatically switching to higher-quality public Wi-Fi networks with a VPN. Google Fi is also introducing AI-powered summaries for bills, explaining charges and potential impacts from plan changes.

These updates position Google Fi as an AI-driven communication platform, differentiating it from standard carriers. The AI integration aims to solve common user frustrations, offering clearer voice quality and richer chat features across devices.
