What happened
Mistral AI introduced Forge, an enterprise system enabling organisations to train frontier AI models using their proprietary internal data, including documentation, codebases, and operational records. This system supports pre-training, post-training, and reinforcement learning, allowing models to internalise domain knowledge and align with internal policies. Forge offers control over models and data, supports dense and Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architectures, and is designed for agentic workflows. Initial partners include ASML, Ericsson, and the European Space Agency.
Why it matters
Strategic autonomy for enterprises increases as Forge enables training AI models on proprietary data within internal infrastructure. Procurement teams gain control over data governance and compliance, ensuring models reflect internal policies. Security architects can enforce evaluation standards directly, reducing risks associated with generic models. Platform engineers can deploy agents that interpret internal terminology and execute complex workflows reliably, moving beyond simple assistance to operational components.
