What happened
Anthropic has doubled Claude usage limits for Free, Pro, Max, and Team plan subscribers during off-peak hours, effective until March 27, 2026. Users now receive twice their standard five-hour allocation outside 8 AM to 2 PM ET on weekdays, with this bonus usage not counting towards weekly limits. This promotion applies automatically, excluding Enterprise plan users, and aims to redistribute server load by incentivising usage outside peak business hours.
Why it matters
This temporary increase reallocates computational demand, allowing platform engineers and researchers to access significantly more Claude capacity without additional cost during specific windows. By incentivising off-peak usage, Anthropic reduces peak load on its infrastructure, a mechanism that could mitigate future service disruptions.
