What happened
Reliance Industries demonstrated interactive AI-generated holograms of characters from its fully AI-produced series, Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. The installation features digital avatars of 'Lord Krishna' and 'Arjuna' inside transparent cylindrical capsules, programmed to answer philosophical questions from visitors. The underlying series, currently streaming 17 episodes on JioHotstar, was created entirely using artificial intelligence tools. The pavilion also displayed AI applications for the health and fashion sectors.
Why it matters
Fully AI-generated episodic content is moving from experimental shorts to commercial streaming platforms. By deploying a 17-episode series on JioHotstar and building interactive physical installations around its IP, Reliance proves the viability of end-to-end synthetic media production. This aligns with JioStar's recent push to accelerate AI adoption across its media operations. Production studios and content strategists face a shifting barrier to long-form narrative content: technical feasibility is yielding to audience acceptance. Integrating conversational AI with established cultural IP establishes a repeatable model for interactive entertainment.
