Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has restated his prediction that AI will soon displace entry-level white-collar roles. He anticipates that AI will take over repetitive but variable tasks in law, consulting, administration, and finance within one to five years. Amodei highlighted first-year law associates reviewing documents as an example of a job AI is already capable of performing.
Amodei claims many business leaders view AI as a means to cut costs by reducing employee numbers. He previously stated AI could eliminate half of entry-level office jobs within five years, potentially causing unemployment to rise. Amodei also suggested AI could write almost all software code within a year, leaving human engineers to focus on high-level design.
These predictions have sparked debate, with some industry leaders disagreeing and believing AI will reshape jobs rather than eliminate them. Others are more aligned with Amodei's outlook.
