Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has restated his prediction that AI will soon displace entry-level white-collar roles. He anticipates that AI will take over repetitive but variable tasks in law, consulting, administration, and finance within one to five years. Amodei claims many business leaders view AI as a means to cut costs by reducing employee numbers. He previously stated AI could eliminate half of entry-level office jobs within five years, potentially causing unemployment to rise. Amodei also suggested AI could write almost all software code within a year, leaving human engineers to focus on high-level design.
These predictions have sparked debate, with some industry leaders disagreeing and believing AI will reshape jobs rather than eliminate them. Others are more aligned with Amodei's outlook.
