Databricks has partnered with OpenAI in a multi-year agreement worth $100 million, integrating OpenAI's models, including GPT-5, into the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform and Agent Bricks. This integration provides Databricks' 20,000+ customers with native access to these models, enabling them to build and scale AI applications on their data. The collaboration aims to simplify enterprise AI deployment, allowing businesses to develop AI agents and applications directly on their governed data.
This partnership streamlines AI development by offering a unified platform for building, evaluating, and scaling AI agents without the complexities of data movement or managing separate tools. Customers can run large language models (LLMs) on their existing enterprise data via SQL or API, deploying them securely with governance and observability controls. Databricks' existing Unity Catalog ensures security and compliance. The integration builds upon previous collaborations, with OpenAI already utilising Databricks' infrastructure for AI data processing.
Databricks expects this integration to drive significant revenue, while OpenAI gains access to a broader range of enterprise clients beyond Microsoft Azure. This move gives Databricks an edge in the enterprise AI market, especially as competitors like Snowflake are still developing their AI capabilities. The partnership reflects the increasing demand for customisable and secure AI solutions tailored to specific business needs.
