Apple has announced that Jeff Williams, the company's Chief Operating Officer, will be handing over his responsibilities to Sabih Khan later this month. Khan, currently Senior Vice President of Operations, will be stepping into the COO role as part of a well-planned leadership transition. Williams will remain at Apple to assist with the transition, overseeing the design team and Apple Watch development, reporting to CEO Tim Cook until his retirement later in the year. After Williams fully retires, the design team will then report directly to Cook.
Khan has been with Apple for 30 years and has been instrumental in the company's operational strategy. As SVP of Operations since 2019, he has managed Apple's global supply chain, focusing on product quality, logistics, and environmental initiatives. His work includes pioneering advanced manufacturing technologies and expanding Apple's manufacturing presence in the United States. He has also driven sustainability efforts, significantly reducing Apple's carbon footprint. Williams, who has been COO since 2010, was key in the development of the iPod, iPhone and Apple Watch, and also shaped Apple's health strategy.
