Anthropic, the AI start-up developing Claude, is reportedly seeking fresh funding that could more than double its valuation to $150 billion. The company is in early discussions to raise between $3 billion and $5 billion, attracting interest from investors, including Abu Dhabi's MGX.
This potential funding round arrives amidst significant backing from Amazon and Alphabet. Amazon has invested $8 billion in Anthropic, making it their primary AI model training partner, with Anthropic utilising AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips. Alphabet has also invested $2 billion and has a cloud services agreement with Anthropic. These partnerships enable Anthropic to leverage substantial computing power and infrastructure.
Anthropic's revenue is growing rapidly, with business subscriptions accounting for 80% of its income. A recent funding round in March 2025 valued the company at $61.5 billion. The company plans to use new capital to advance its AI systems, expand its computing capacity, and accelerate international expansion.
