OpenAI has released its ChatGPT Agent for the Mac app, enabling users to delegate complex tasks directly from their desktops. This new feature combines the capabilities of Deep Research and Operator, allowing the AI to autonomously browse the web, analyse data, generate code, and interact with third-party platforms like Google Drive and GitHub.
Users can activate Agent mode via the "/agent" command or by selecting the Agent button within the app. The agent then executes tasks, presenting a reasoning timeline that allows users to monitor progress and intervene if needed. Example applications demonstrated by OpenAI include planning events, creating presentations, and managing data.
ChatGPT Agent is available to ChatGPT Pro, Plus, and Team subscribers, with usage limited to 400 queries per month for Pro users and 40 for Plus and Team plans. OpenAI plans to extend access to Enterprise and Education users by the end of July.
