A New York man has been indicted on federal charges after allegedly constructing seven homemade bombs with the assistance of artificial intelligence. The suspect, Michael Gann, reportedly described the process as surprisingly easy. Gann allegedly stashed five of the devices on SoHo rooftops and threw another onto subway tracks on the Williamsburg Bridge.
Authorities apprehended Gann on June 5th, discovering an IED in his possession. Subsequent investigations revealed that the explosive devices contained roughly 30 grams of explosive powder, significantly exceeding the legal limit for consumer fireworks. The suspect faces charges including transportation of explosive materials, attempted destruction of property, and unlawful possession of destructive devices.
Officials stated that the vigilance and swift action of law enforcement prevented a potential tragedy. The suspect is accused of purchasing precursor chemicals online, which can be combined to create an explosive mixture.
