Norrsken VC, founded by the Klarna co-founder, has committed €300 million to invest in European AI startups. The investment will focus on AI companies that are working to solve critical climate issues. The company plans to invest the funds across its early-stage funds, Norrsken Accelerator and Norrsken Launcher.
The firm's founder, Niklas Adalberth, stated that AI has the potential to amplify or solve global problems, and that current investment focuses too much on productivity gains instead of addressing important challenges. Norrsken's investment strategy will focus on AI applications within clean energy, healthcare, education, and food systems.
Norrsken's commitment comes at a time when AI investment is booming. In 2024, AI startups secured over $100 billion in venture capital, representing a third of all global VC investment. Norrsken aims to direct investment towards AI solutions that have a tangible positive impact on the world.
