Apple is reportedly developing a dedicated, multi-platform gaming application, aiming to solidify its position in the gaming market. The app, expected to launch with iOS 19, macOS 16, and tvOS 19, will serve as a central hub for launching games, tracking achievements, accessing leaderboards, and facilitating communication between players. It will replace the existing Game Center and integrate both App Store and Apple Arcade content, potentially including games downloaded outside the App Store on Macs.
The gaming app will feature editorial content and game suggestions, promoting special gaming events and updates. Apple is also exploring integration with FaceTime and iMessage to enhance player communication, alongside potential support for mini-games based on App Clips. This move aligns with Apple's broader strategy to enhance gaming across its devices, following the introduction of Apple Arcade and efforts to attract major game publishers to its platform. The app's debut is anticipated at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9th, with a full release expected in September.
