What happened
Nokia partnered with Nvidia, receiving a $1 billion investment for a 2.9% stake, to accelerate AI-RAN innovation for 5G-Advanced and 6G networks. Nvidia's AI chips and algorithms will integrate into Nokia's mobile base stations and network products. This collaboration focuses on AI networking solutions and integrates Nokia's data centre communication products into Nvidia's AI infrastructure. Nokia will embed NVIDIA ARC-Pro into its RAN portfolio, facilitating a transition to AI-RAN networks. T-Mobile U.S. plans AI-RAN 6G development trials with Nokia and Nvidia by 2026.
Why it matters
