Adobe has launched AI assistants for its Creative Cloud applications, Express and Photoshop. These AI assistants offer conversational editing, enabling users to request edits via chat, which the AI then independently implements. The Express AI assistant is currently in beta, while a waitlist is available for Photoshop.
Express features a dedicated AI mode for image and design generation through text prompts. Users can switch between this AI-first interface and traditional editing tools. Photoshop's AI assistant, in closed beta, resides in the sidebar and automates repetitive tasks like background removal and colour adjustments. Adobe is also experimenting with cross-platform AI coordination through 'Project Moonlight', which connects to social channels for style analysis.
These AI assistants provide personalised recommendations and tutorials. Adobe is integrating third-party AI models, such as ElevenLabs' audio generation and Topaz's image generation, and is focusing on custom Firefly models. The new Firefly Image Model 5 focuses on layered image editing, treating each image asset as a separate layer for individual editing.
