Anthropic Focuses on Infrastructure

Anthropic has appointed Rahul Patil, formerly CTO at Stripe, as its new Chief Technology Officer. This move comes as Anthropic aims to bolster its AI infrastructure amid increasing demand for its Claude AI assistant and growing competition. Patil will manage compute resources, infrastructure development and inference systems.

In tandem with this appointment, Anthropic is restructuring its core technical group to encourage closer collaboration between product engineering, infrastructure, and inference teams. Sam McCandlish, a co-founder, will transition to the role of Chief Architect, concentrating on pre-training and large-scale model training. Both Patil and McCandlish will report to Anthropic President Daniela Amodei.
