What happened
Google is transitioning its Gemini CLI to the new Antigravity CLI, effective immediately for all users. On June 18, 2026, Gemini CLI and Gemini Code Assist IDE extensions will cease serving requests for Google AI Pro, Ultra, and free users, including those using Gemini Code Assist for individuals. Enterprise customers with Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise licences, or Google Cloud GitHub integration, will retain access to Gemini CLI and its associated IDE extensions, which will continue to support the latest Gemini models. Antigravity CLI, built in Go, offers faster execution, asynchronous multi-agent orchestration, and a unified architecture with the Antigravity 2.0 platform, retaining core features like Agent Skills, Hooks, Subagents, and Extensions (now plugins).
