What happened
India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) established a Technology and Policy Expert Committee (TPEC) to advise its AI Governance and Economic Group (AIGEG). Chaired by the MeitY Secretary, TPEC comprises experts from academia, industry, and digital policy, tasked with providing technical and policy inputs for India’s AI governance framework. The committee will identify emerging AI risks, regulatory gaps, track global policy developments, and shape India's diplomatic engagement in international AI governance forums.
