OpenAI is developing an AI-powered hiring platform, the OpenAI Jobs Platform, designed to connect companies with skilled AI talent. Scheduled for launch by mid-2026, the platform aims to improve matching between employer needs and candidate skills, with a focus on supporting small businesses and local governments. Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, is spearheading the initiative.
In addition to the jobs platform, OpenAI is expanding its OpenAI Academy to offer certifications for various levels of AI proficiency. The OpenAI Certifications will range from basic AI usage to advanced prompt engineering. OpenAI plans to pilot the certifications in late 2025, aiming to certify 10 million Americans by 2030. Walmart is among the organisations collaborating with OpenAI on the certification program. The OpenAI Academy provides resources, workshops and communities to help individuals master AI tools.
These initiatives reflect OpenAI's broader strategy to democratise AI knowledge and bridge the AI skills gap. By offering both a hiring platform and AI fluency certifications, OpenAI aims to facilitate the integration of AI across various sectors and empower individuals and businesses to leverage AI effectively.
