Amperon, a technology firm specialising in energy data and AI, has developed a new AI model that provides detailed weather forecasts and their potential impact on power markets. The tool delivers hourly forecasts up to seven months in advance, offering a more granular perspective for energy traders.
Traditional energy forecasts often fall short due to the complexities of modern grids, but Amperon's AI-driven forecasting uses advanced machine learning to maximise profits and optimise operations. The model leverages data from 40,000 weather points and considers over 20 weather variables. This extensive data analysis allows for more accurate predictions of short-term demand, renewable energy generation, and overall sensitivity to various weather scenarios.
With Amperon's new tool, energy traders and portfolio managers can gain advanced seasonal insights into weather and load patterns at both grid and zonal levels. This enables them to optimise hedging strategies, mitigate risks, and make better-informed trading decisions.
