MediaTek has launched the Dimensity 9500, a new mobile platform designed to enhance on-device AI processing capabilities. The chip aims to set new standards for AI, gaming, and power efficiency in flagship 5G smartphones. The Dimensity 9500 features a third-generation CPU design with a 4.21GHz ultra core, three premium cores, and four performance cores, coupled with UFS 4.1 storage. This configuration delivers up to 29% higher single-core and 16% higher multi-core performance compared to the previous generation, while the ultra core achieves up to 55% lower power consumption at peak performance.
The platform integrates a Super Efficient NPU with compute-in-memory architecture, reducing power consumption and enabling continuous AI model operation. The chip doubles compute power and introduces BitNet 1.58-bit large model processing, reducing power consumption by up to 33%. For gaming, the Dimensity 9500 incorporates an Arm G1-Ultra GPU, providing up to 33% higher peak performance and 42% improved power efficiency, along with support for ray tracing and graphics engines like Vulkan 1.4 and Unreal Engine 5.6. The first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9500 are expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The Dimensity 9500 supports RAW-domain pre-processing, up to 200MP capture, 30fps continuous focus tracking, and cinematic 4K 60FPS portrait video. It also doubles read/write speeds and accelerates large AI model loading by 40%. The chip's design ensures smooth responsiveness and sustained efficiency, even under heavy workloads. The Dimensity 9500 is poised to compete with Qualcomm's Snapdragon series in the flagship smartphone market.
