Blacksmith, a startup focused on optimising software build processes, has secured $10 million in Series A funding led by Google Ventures. This investment comes just four months after a $3.5 million seed round, highlighting confidence in the company's approach to continuous integration and delivery.
Founded in January 2024, Blacksmith aims to reduce costs and accelerate software development. Their platform utilises high-performance CPUs to enhance processing speed and decrease compute costs, offering a potential alternative to generic cloud servers. Blacksmith's technology has attracted over 700 customers and achieved $3.5 million in annual recurring revenue. The company aims to double its revenue by the end of the year.
Blacksmith's platform offers a drop-in replacement for GitHub Actions runners, claiming to be twice as fast and half the cost. The company's solution provides faster builds, tests, and smarter caching. Blacksmith's approach includes fast compute, observability tools, and security features to improve code merging and protect against supply chain attacks.
